PURPOSE:To eliminate the unequal colors by differences in the film thickness of color filters by applying a pressure on the color filters by using a smoothing plate to smooth the surfaces of the color filters after the formation of the color filters. CONSTITUTION:Gap agent 4 consisting of SiO2 of a prescribed diameter, for example, 1.5mum, are sprayed on the surfaces of the color filters after the formation of the color filters and the pressure is applied on the color filters by using the smoothing plate 5. The color filters are crushed down to the thickness corresponding to the particle diameter of the gap agent and the differences in the film thicknesses of the respective colors of the color filters are eliminated, by which the surfaces of the color filters are smoothed. A substrate 8 provided with the smoothed color filters 7 on ITO 6 and a glass substrate 10 having a counter electrode 9 are disposed to face each other in such a manner and a liquid crystal 11 is crimped in the spacing thereof, by which the multicolor liquid crystal display device is produced. The unequal colors at the time of voltage impression occurring in the differences in the thicknesses between the color filters and the ruggedness, etc., of the color filter surfaces are eliminated in this way and the high yield and high quality are attained. |
