A dental post consisting of fibre-reinforced material with substantially uniformly directed fibers (8) and mountable in a tooth root canal for fixing a dental prosthetic structure on a tooth stump, wherein said post comprises a tapered portion.
In order to improve the mechanical retention of the post according to a first aspect of the invention, at least one longitudinal groove (5,6,7) is provided on the circumferential surface of said tapered portion extending over part of its circumference or at most twice around its circumference.
For improving light conduction in the a post according to a second aspect of the invention, at least a fraction of said fibers (8) is adapted for light conduction within said post, wherein ends of said light conducting fibers (8) at the distal end (3) of said post are prepared as a light entering surface. |
