The seal (1) has a base (2), and a seal wedge (3) that is partially supported in a bearing region (12) of the base, where the seal wedge is made of hard elastomer material. The seal wedge is displaceable to a rear end (7) of the base in a direction (4) along the base. The base exhibits a cavity or groove and a sliding unit in the bearing region of the seal wedge. The base exhibits a bridge behind the bearing surface of the seal wedge in a direction of the rear end of the base.
