Method for detecting blue stains in wood

The method involves detecting light reflected from a cut surface (2) by a camera (3) i.e. black and white charge-coupled device camera. Two images in different wavelength ranges of electromagnetic spectrum are detected, where one of the wavelength ranges covers electromagnetic radiation in a range i.e. blue and/or green range of light spectrum, visible for human and the other wavelength range covers electromagnetic radiation in an infrared range. Both images are compared and evaluated. The camera together with a filter device designed as a beam splitter, is partially surrounded by a tube. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting blueness on a cut surface of a log of wood, comprising a radiation source.
