<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of outputting the image information of a surface intended by a user without re-reading an original document even if the user wrongly sets the front or the rear surface of the original document. <P>SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus has a first reading means and a second reading means for respectively reading front and rear surfaces of an original document; a storage unit for storing the image information of the first and the second surfaces; and a control unit for controlling the first reading means, the second reading means, the storage unit, and a reading mode selecting means. When a single-surface reading mode is selected, the control unit causes to read the image information of the first surface and the second surface of the original document, respectively, to output the image information of the first surface, and causes the storage unit to store at least the image information of the second surface. When receiving an instruction of switching the image information to be outputted after the completion of the reading and outputting of the original document from the first surface to the second surface, the control unit causes the storage unit to output the image information of the second surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
