<p>The apparatus (1) has a transport device provided for transporting plastic containers. A microwave heating device (4) is provided for heating areas of plastic preforms. A stretching device (6) mechanically acts upon the plastic preforms and stretches the plastic containers along a longitudinal direction (L). The heating device and the stretching device are arranged such that the plastic preforms are heated before and after stretching of the plastic preforms. The stretching device has a plastic rectangular rod (22), which is guided into the preforms.
