PURPOSE: To separate the lumps of bread crumbs and to carry away the lumps to the outside of a device without contacting as food. CONSTITUTION: This device for coating the food with a granular material is provided with a conveyor belt 21 for carrying the food 22, a granular material supply device arranged at the upper part of the conveyor belt and a sieving device 19 arranged between the supply device and the conveyor belt capable of directly feeding the granular material onto the food carrying conveyor belt through the sieving device and holding any lumps of the granular material larger than a prescribed size.
