EXTRACTION AND PURIFICATION OF ARBUTIN FROM ASIAN PEAR PEEL BY SOLVENT EXTRACTION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for extracting arbutin from Pyres pyrifolia cv. Niitaka peel is provided to improve extraction efficiency and to use by-product as a material. CONSTITUTION: A method for extracting arbutin from Pyres pyrifolia cv. Niitaka peel comprises: a step of mixing 500g of fresh Pyres pyrifolia cv. Niitaka peel with an extraction solvent; a step of stirring at 100rpm and extracting for 24 hours; a step of filtering to collect filtered liquid; a step of mixing the liquid with 1 L of extraction solvent and extracting and filtering twice; a step of concentrating filtered material to obtain concentrate liquid; and a step of purifying the concentrate using amberlite XAD-4 resin.
