A method for differentiating a fat derived bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell to chondrocyte is provided to safely treat osteoarthritis without damage of other tissue such as bone. A method for differentiating a fat derived bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell is to culture in medium containing 80-500ng/ml of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP-2) or BMP-7. The medium further comprises transforming growth factor-beta 2 (TGF-beta 2). A composition for treating cartilage damage diseases contains chondrocyte which is differentiated from the stem cell. The cartilage damage diseases are degenerative arthritis or rheumatic arthritis. |
