PURPOSE: A novel piperazine derivative and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same for preventing and/or treating depression are provided to treat depression, anxiety and 5-HT1A receptor-associated diseases. CONSTITUTION: A novel piperazine compound is denoted by structural formula I. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating depression and anxiety contains effective amount of piperazine compound of structural formula I and pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient. The piperazine compound of structural formula I is administered in the amount of 0.7-7000mg a day.
