The exchanger has a base plate for supporting a heat exchange core. The base plate is fixed to one of tube type plates (43) at a level of an end of a pile. The base plate is formed with a crest (56) extending along and adjacent to a wall of an edge of the tube type plates. A section of the crest is spaced from edges (58, 58') adjacent to the base plate so as to provide mounting flanges (60, 60') for exchanging heat between oil and heat exchange liquids. The base plate is made of aluminum. The heat exchanger is made of 304 type stainless steel, nickel or brazed copper.
