The process of producing a reinforcement and draining fiber (10) for the reinforcement of composite materials, comprises assembling a bundle of filaments (12) having a low dimension of 10-30 mu m, joining the filaments to obtain a fiber having a mass density of 30-1000 tex, and subjecting the bundle of filaments to wrapping operation (14). The wrapping operation is produced with a helicoidal roller (16) comprising a yarn made of thermoplastic polymer subjected to heating after attaining a softening point. The bundle of filaments undergoes a partial sheathing operation. The process of producing a reinforcement and draining fiber (10) for the reinforcement of composite materials, comprises assembling a bundle of filaments (12) having a low dimension of 10-30 mu m, joining the filaments to obtain a fiber having a mass density of 30-1000 tex, and subjecting the bundle of filaments to wrapping operation (14).
