<p>Embodiments of the invention are generally directed to signaling for transitions between modes (D1, D2) of data transmission. An embodiment of a method includes transmitting a data stream over a data link (440) from a first device (410) to a second device (420), the data stream operating in a first mode (D1); determining that the data stream is to be changed from the first mode (D1) to a second mode (D2); and transmitting a message (Cmd 452) from the first device (410) to the second device (420) over a control link (450), the message (452) indicating that the first device will change the data stream from the first mode (Dl) to the second mode (D2), the message being sent prior to the change to the second mode.</p> |
