<p>Disclosed are a method for compressing route forwarding table of a communication equipment and an apparatus thereof. The method includes: in the group network of the communication equipments, configuring each transmission node in the group network with an Internet Protocol (IP) address of different network segment, and selecting one host route interface from a plurality of host route interfaces between two adjacent transmission nodes as the network route interface of the same network segment; when updating a route forwarding table, judging whether the type of the route to be added is a host route or a network route, if it is a host route, judging whether a network route in the same network segment as the host route to be added exits in the route forwarding table, if it exists, dropping the host route to be added, and replacing the host route to be added with the network route; if it does not exist, adding the host route to be added into the route forwarding table. Application of the method and apparatus of the present invention enables the direct replacement of the host route with network route, the size of route forwarding table can be effectively reduced, thereby the route forwarding efficiency can be enhanced, the memory resource conflict can be decreased, and the burden of the central processing unit (CPU) can be reduced.</p> |
