<p>A unit (20) for controlling a printer (1) comprises: a unit (22) which supplies a period-variable type strobe signal, to the thermal head an (m-1) number of times, said period-variable type strobe signal controlling the energization time of heater elements (11) and the period of which, when forming an image in m-levels of gradations, is variable; a unit (21) which splits energization data an (m-1) number of times by units of lines and supplies the result to the thermal head, said energization data controlling the energization of the heater elements by the strobe signals and including (m-1) components each of which corresponds to a respective heater element; and a unit (23) which supplies a period-variable latch signal to the thermal head to latch the components of the subsequent energizing data in synchronization with the period-variable strobe signal.</p> |
