PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very versatile optical system capable of reducing the illumination unevenness or observation image unevenness with a simple structure, and to provide an illumination device and a microscope device. SOLUTION: In the illumination optical system 11 carrying out reflection at least once using reflection members 13 and 15, the front face of reflection surfaces A and B of the reflection members 13 and 15 for reflecting illumination light are covered with transmission members 13b and 15b having refractive index larger than that of the atmosphere in which the illumination optical system 11 is arranged.
