Disclosed is a novel compound useful as a carrier transporter, which has a high carrier mobility, ensures stable formation of a photosensitive layer without showing crystallization or pinhole formation in the course of the formation of the photosensitive layer, and, furthermore, enables the production of an organic photoreceptor for electrophotography having a high sensitivity and a low residual potential. An indole derivative represented by general formula (1). In general formula (1), R1 and R2 represent an alkyl group; k represents an integer of 0 to 3; j represents an integer of 0 to 4; ring Z represents a 5- to 6-membered ring, in particular, a cyclopentane ring; and X1 and X2 represent a hydrocarbon group having at least one ethylenically unsaturated bond.
