<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the use of an optical fiber cable with a low breakdown voltage having a dielectric strength with respect to the output voltage of one cell by eliminating at least most of optical fiber cables with a high breakdown voltage, having a dielectric strength against the output voltage of a plurality of cells from among optical fibers to be used for control and communication, and to shorten the required length of the optical fiber cables, in a power converter consisting of a plurality of cascade-connected cells. <P>SOLUTION: In the power converter 103 consisting of a plurality of cascade-connected cells, a controller of the power converter 103 is composed of a central controller 107 and cell controllers 204 disposed near a potential which is identical to that of each cell, and the central controller 107 and each cell controller 204 are daisy chain-connected via the optical fiber cables 111-114. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
