摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve driving performance in speed change for upshifting a gear stage of a subtransmission mechanism when torque input to a vehicle continuously variable transmission is negative torque. SOLUTION: A control device of the vehicle continuously variable transmission 4 is equipped with a continuously variable transmission mechanism 20 and the subtransmission mechanism 30. Inertia phase processing for adjusting input rotation change speed of the subtransmission mechanism 30 by controlling the engagement capacity of a frictional engagement element of the subtransmission mechanism 30 is carried out during a process of changing the gear stage of the subtransmission mechanism 30 from a first gear position to a second gear position when the torque input to the vehicle continuously variable transmission 4 is negative torque. The control device comprises an inertia phase processing ending means (S3) for ending an instruction of the inertia phase processing before the input rotation speed of the subtransmission mechanism 30 actually reaches input rotation speed of the second gear stage, and a torque phase processing start means (S5) for starting an instruction of torque phase processing for increasing the fastening capacity of the engagement-side frictional engagement element of the subtransmission mechanism 30, after ending the instruction of the inertia phase processing and before the input rotation speed of the subransmission mechanism 30 actually reaches the input rotation speed of the second gear stage.
