摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect decrease in hydraulic pressure without any special switch, in a variable valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A control means (17) includes: a target advance amount determination means (20) setting a target advance amount of a valve (5), based on an operational status detected by an operational status detection means (14) and an intake air volume measured by an air volume measuring means (15); and a hydraulic pressure determination means (21) setting the target advance amount to be an advance amount for measuring hydraulic pressure when the operational status detected by the operational status detection means (14) satisfies an operating condition for measuring hydraulic pressure, measuring an achieving time (t) until an actual advance amount of the valve (5) reaches the advance amount for determining hydraulic pressure, comparing the measured achieving time (t) with a set achieving time (X), and thereby determining whether or not the hydraulic pressure of the internal combustion engine (1) is decreased.
