<p>Disclosed is a silicate phosphor which can have an excellent luminance even when used in combination with a semiconductor light-emitting element that is heated upon the emission of light, and which is improved in the deterioration in light emission efficiency that may occur when the temperature is raised and therefore has excellent thermal properties. Specifically disclosed is an alkali earth metal silicate phosphor which has an orthorhombic crystal structure represented by formula: (Sr,Ba,Eu)2SiO4. The alkali earth metal silicate phosphor can produce an absorption peak derived from trivalent europium (Eu3+) in a region between 525 to 545 nm of an emission spectrum that is obtained by exciting the phosphor with a light having a wavelength lying in a blue region. Therefore, the alkali earth metal silicate phosphor can be improved in the deterioration in light emission efficiency that may occur when the temperature is raised, and therefore can have excellent thermal properties.</p> |
