A method, device and system for selecting a route discovery are provided which serve to select the route discovery method with flexibility. The method includes: determining data quantity to be transmitted; selecting symmetrical path route discovery or unsymmetrical path route discovery according to the data quantity to be transmitted; transmitting the selecting result to other nodes. A method, device and system for selecting route discovery are provided to determine route discovery strategy according to the data quantity to be transmitted, and save signaling interaction, thereby solving the problem that route discovery method can not be selected flexibly.
