MULTI-CORE PLASTIC OPTICAL FIBER STRAND, LIGHT GUIDE, LIGHT SOURCE USING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING LIGHT GUIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-core plastic optical fiber strand which is easy to take out and separate a bundle of single-core plastic optical fiber strands without damaging, and also provide a light guide and a light source using it.

SOLUTION: This multi-core plastic optical fiber strand (10) is made of six or more and 10,000 or less single-core plastic optical fiber strands (12) each including a core fiber (122) consisting of a transparent resin and a sheath layer (124) formed of a resin containing an ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene based copolymer having a reactive functional group terminal with a refractive index lower than the transparent resin, and covering the core fiber; and a sea portion (14) consisting of a resin dissolving in the specific solvent that does not dissolve the ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene based copolymer, and bundling a bundle of the single-core plastic optical fiber strands (12).
