PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accepting a money item, which does not include complications in controlling a window width. SOLUTION: There is provided a money item acceptor that includes sensor circuits (S1 to S4) that bring a separate money item signal (Rs), based on a money item under inspection; and a processing component (11) that prepares at least one variable parameter that is a function of an unauthorized criterion, such as, historical data (AVGD<SB>N</SB>and MaxD<SB>n</SB>) that are related to a value of a converted money item signal (T<SB>new</SB>) as a function of a value of the money item signal and to the value of the money item signal of a previously inspected money item for each of the money items under inspection; compares the value (T<SB>new</SB>) of the converted money item signal and window limit values (W2, L2); and further, accepts each money item if the value falls in the window limit.
