PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator doorway safety device for preventing a passenger car from being elevated up and down in the state that long foreign matters having small diameters are held between doors. SOLUTION: The elevator doorway safety device includes cutters 7A, 7b applied to the elevator doors 3A, 3B which are moved to be open/closed with their upper parts guided along a door rail 1 and their lower parts guided via a door shoe 6 along a sill 4, and provided at the closed end side lower parts of the doors 3A, 3B for cutting a string 8 held between the lower pats of the doors 3A, 3B when closed.
