PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of annihilating mites inside collected dust without spending time and effort or money. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes: an electric blower 20 for generating air for sucking dust; a dust collecting chamber 10 for storing the dust; a decompression chamber 12 communicating with the dust collecting chamber 10 through a path 11; a pump 15 for sucking the air of the decompression chamber 12; and an openable and closable isolation valve 14 for shutting off the path 11. After cleaning work is ended, the isolation valve 14 is closed and the pump 15 is operated. An oxygen amount inside the decompression chamber 12 is reduced and mites are annihilated without spending special time and labor or purchasing chemicals.
