The engine has a cylinder (20) for supplying supercharged air (L) in a region of a lateral surface. Exhaust valve opening surface variation units for variation of an opening surface of an exhaust valve are provided for required adjustment of a portion of exhaust gas at a mixture in the cylinder to 20 percentages, where space ignition is provided by microwaves for initiation of a combustion process of the mixture. Variation of an opening surface of the exhaust valve is provided by exhaust duct connection and/or exhaust valve disconnection. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a two-stroke reciprocating piston-internal combustion engine.
