The seal has a hose-shaped seal strand (4) including an elastomer material and connected with a vehicle body (1). The seal strand is arranged in a corner along an opening edge. The corner is formed by a protruding body flange (5) and a section (6) of the vehicle body bent against the body flange. The seal strand is connected with the section of the vehicle body bent against the body flange. The seal strand is stuck together with the body section over a reciprocally sticking adhesive tape (7). The strand rests against the flange or a gap is formed between the strand and the flange. An independent claim is also included for a method for sealing a gap of a vehicle door or a flap.
