<p>Disclosed is an excellently safe epigallocatechin gallate derivative (an EGCG derivative) which has excellent antibacterial properties. Specifically, an epigallocatechin gallate derivative represented by chemical formula (1), an isomer thereof or a salt thereof is used as an antibacterial agent. In the formula, R1-R6 may be the same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a sodium atom, a potassium atom, or a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated acyl group; the acyl group may be substituted by one or more substituents; at least one of the R1-R6 is the acyl group; and R7-R16 may be the same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a sodium atom or a potassium atom.</p> |
