<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator capable of emitting brighter light, and contributing to the simplification of a cooling structure, the downsizing of the illuminator and the suppression of noise. <P>SOLUTION: The illuminator 2 includes: a first light emitting tube 11a and a second light emitting tube 11b arranged across an illumination optical axis L and emitting light; a first sub reflection part 14a arranged between the first light emitting tube and the second light emitting tube covering a part of the periphery of the first light emitting tube and reflecting light emitted from the first light emitting tube; a first main reflection part 12a reflecting light emitted from the first light emitting tube and light reflected by the first sub-reflection part; a second sub-reflection part 14b arranged between the first light emitting tube and the second light emitting tube covering a part of the periphery of the second light emitting tube and reflecting the light emitted from the second light emitting tube; and a second main reflection part 12b reflecting light emitted from the second light emitting tube and light reflected by the second sub reflection part.
