PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator monitoring device capable of easily restraining an exposure of an electric wire connected to a monitoring camera, by arranging the monitoring camera in a position not imparting a distrust of being peeped from below to a passenger and not becoming a hindrance to the passenger. SOLUTION: A cylinder body 10 is suspended on the rear end side of a movable warning plate as a protective body when setting the rising direction of an escalator as the front direction. The monitoring camera 11 is stored in an upper part of this cylinder body 10. A picture recorder 25 is arranged inside an outer deck board 6. An electric wire member 20 for connecting the monitoring camera 11 to this picture recorder 25, extends toward the lower end from the upper end in the cylinder body 10, and further extends up to the outer deck board 6 from its lower end, and is further wired inside the outer deck board 6.
