The present invention discloses a method for transmitting neighbor cell information. The network side sends inter-frequency neighbor cell information to user equipment (UE) via an inter-frequency cell information list, and when an inter-frequency neighbor cell of the UE possesses a subsidiary carrier provided with the same frequency as that of the working carrier of the UE, the network side adds an identification information, which is used to notify the UE of the inter-frequency neighbor cells which possess subsidiary carriers provided with the same frequency as that of the working carrier of the UE, in the inter-frequency cell information list. By notifying UE of the inter-frequency neighbor cells which possess subsidiary carriers provided with the same frequency as that of the working carrier of the UE, the present invention ensures the performance of the multi-cell joint detection when UE performs multi-cell joint detection; meanwhile, the present invention makes it more accurate when UE calculates the serving and neighbor cell path loss (SNPL), and makes the present protocol compatible, thereby the capacity of multi-cell joint detection is improved, and the high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA) service level of the system and the integrated performance of the time division-synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) mobile communication network are enhanced.
