<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power steering mechanism, which reduces useless power in a hydraulic pump directly connected to an engine and is additionally attached by making the most of existing components of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: This power steering mechanism includes the hydraulic pump (2) directly connected to the engine (1), a power cylinder unit (3), a reservoir tank (5) and a pressure oil line (first pressure oil line L) for communicating a discharge port (2o) of the hydraulic pump (2) with a valve unit (8) of the power cylinder unit (3). In the power steering mechanism, a bypass line (Lb) for communicating the discharge port (2o) with an intake port (2i) in the hydraulic pump (2) is included.
