<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon nitride ceramic and its material, whose reaction sintering can be completed in the temperature-rising condition when a usual silicon nitride ceramic is sintered, and whose sintering time containing a high-temperature sintering thereafter is equal to the sintering time for conventional silicon nitride ceramics, and have a high performance, even if an inexpensive silicon powder is used as a main raw material as compared with the silicon nitride powder; and to provide a method for manufacturing the ceramic. <P>SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the silicon nitride ceramic in which a raw material containing silicon is used, and after the reaction sintering to nitride the silicon in nitrogen, the densification is carried out, a mixed powder in which either or both of a compound containing Eu and a compound containing Ce are added to the silicon as a main raw material as a starting raw material, and after molding, the reaction sintering and the densification by sintering are carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
