<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively aim at prevention of glare on an on-coming driver at rainy-day running, while securing enough brightness of a low-beam light distribution pattern in a projector type headlight for a vehicle equipped with a liquid crystal shutter. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal shutter 20 is so structured that liquid crystal materials 34 are arranged only in a first area Z1, and a second area Z2 above the same, and a pair of polarizing plates 36 are arranged only in areas on outer faces of a pair of transparent substrates 32 corresponding to the first and the second areas Z1, Z2. By making the first area Z1 in a light-shielding mode, the low-beam light-distribution pattern having a cut-off line at an upper end edge, and further, by making the second area Z2 in a light-shielding mode at rainy-day running, light reflected at a road surface in front of the vehicle and headed toward a space above the cut-off line after being irradiated from a projection lens 12 is shielded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
