<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which reduces optical coupling loss, reduces a size and cost, improves light emission efficiency, and is regarded as a point light source. <P>SOLUTION: A linear optical fiber 3 having a rare-earth element added on a core 31 is held on a package 2 in a form in which an optical axis corresponds to an LED chip 1. A frame body part 23 as a spread angle control part for controlling a spread angle of light applied from the LED chip 1 is arranged on the package 2. Therefore, the LED chip 1 and optical fiber 3 are optically-coupled without converting a spot size by using an optical lens, the optical coupling loss between the LED chip 1 and optical fiber 3 can be reduced, and the size and cost can be reduced. Further, because the linear optical fiber 3 is formed to have a length by which amplified spontaneous emission light is emitted from an end surface 31b on an opposite side to an LED chip 1 side, the light emission efficiency is improved and the light emitting device can be regarded as the point light source. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
