PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vacuum cleaner capable of remote controlling locking and releasing of an inner pipe during extension/contraction of an extension pipe by an operation lever provided near a hand handle grip of a hose unit. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes: a cleaner body 1; the hose unit 5 connected to the cleaner body 1 and having the handle grip 8; the telescopic extension pipe 10 connected to the handle grip 8; and a floor suction tool 9 connected to the extension pipe 10. The extension pipe 10 includes: an outer pipe 11 having an inner-pipe locking means; and an inner pipe 12 having a plurality of locking parts 31 to be locked by the inner pipe locking means and slidably inserted into the outer pipe 11. The inner-pipe locking means is composed of an inner-pipe lock lever 50 for locking with the locking part 31, a stopper-holding member 40 for controlling the inner-pipe lock lever 50, the operation lever 44 connected to the stopper-holding member 40 by a connecting member 45, and a spring 46 for energizing the stopper-holding member 40 toward the tip side of the outer pipe 11.
