<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expedite initiation of the return processing of a rental article. <P>SOLUTION: An article sales data processing device receives rental article identification information for identifying the rental article (step S1), and transmits request information for initiating a return process of the rental article which is identified by the received rental article identification information to a rental management device which performs return processing (step S2).
