摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter that can be in an optimal operation state at all the time, regardless of the number of power converters connected to a commercial power supply. SOLUTION: In the power converter, an AC voltage from a commercial power supply 11 is input via a reactor 12 and is rectified by a rectification circuit 13. A DC voltage obtained by smoothing by a smoothing capacitor 14 is converted into an AC voltage by an inverter 15 and is supplied to a load. The power converter has a shorting switch 16 that bypasses the rectification circuit 13. A voltage zero-cross point of the AC voltage is detected by a voltage zero-cross point detection unit 18, and a signal contributing to the improvement of a power factor for suppressing a phase lag of a fundamental wave component of an AC current to the AC voltage is detected by a detection unit 20 for detecting the signal contributing to the improvement of a power factor. During a time period from the voltage zero-cross point to a next timing zero-cross point, a shorting switch open/close control unit 21 controls the open/close time of the shorting switch 16 so that the phase lag may be within an allowable range based on the signal contributing to the improvement of a power factor.
