PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of improving image quality of a monochromatic image after conversion when converting data of a color image into data of the monochromatic image. SOLUTION: The color image for one page of a color document includes image portions indicating markings 81 for the same Y color and a dot pattern 82 as electronic watermark information, and when converting the color image into a monochromatic image in black for copy output, the color image is converted in such a way that the markings 81 have a higher density than that of the dot pattern 82. A dot pattern 92 after conversion can be made into a low-density pattern suitably for a human eye sensitivity and markings 91 can be made into high-density markings so as to easily attract persons.
