PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water storage type water heater having a high energy-saving effect by improving COP (Coefficient Of Performance). SOLUTION: The water heater 100 is equipped with: a heat pump unit 110 for heating water or hot water; a hot water storage tank 132 for storing the hot water; a bathtub temperature sensor 166 for detecting a hot water temperature of bath water in a bathtub 200; a bathtub water level sensor 168 for detecting the water level of the bath water in the bathtub 200; bath refilling piping (bath filling piping 180) connected to the hot water storage tank 132, water supply piping 138 and the bathtub 200; a control part 172 for supplying refilling hot-water generated by mixing the hot water in the hot water storage tank 132 and supply water to the bathtub 200 from bath refilling piping 186 when detecting lowering of the hot water temperature and lowering of the water level of the bath water at the same time; and a calculating part 174 for calculating a serving temperature and a serving amount of the refilling hot-water from the temperature and the water level of the bath water.
