摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of adaptively correcting MTFs based on an MTF of an image output apparatus by using an MTF correction coefficient corresponding to pixel feature quantity when the deterioration in image quality owing to the MTF of the image output apparatus is different depending on the pixel feature quantity of an image. <P>SOLUTION: A feature quantity calculating section 104 calculates the feature quantity of an image per frequency component for each of pixels of an input image. An MTF acquiring section 109 acquires an MTF corresponding to the feature quantity from an MTF storage section 108 for storing an optical transmission function of an image output apparatus 103 for each frequency component. A correction filter creating section 110 creates a correction filter of a frequency space for correcting the input image from the MTF acquired for each frequency component. A correction filter converting section 111 converts the correction filter of the frequency space into a correction filter of an actual space. An image converting section 112 uses the correction filter of the actual space to execute correction for each pixel of the input image.
