PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method which can be suitably used for sufficiently cleaning the dirt insoluble or hardly soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons and/or glycol ethers and/or esters. SOLUTION: The method includes a process of cleaning by immersing a material to be treated by using a detergent composition containing an aromatic hydrocarbon as a main component having a boiling point of 200-350°C and a flash point of 70°C or higher, and a process of immersing and rinsing the material to be cleaned after immersing into hydrofluorocarbon or hydrofluoroether.
