PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated magnetite particles wherein heat resistance, hydrophobicity and dispersibility into an organic solvent are balanced. SOLUTION: The coated magnetite particle is characterized by that the surface of the core particle of magnetite is coated with a silane compound layer formed by using an alkoxysilane with a hydrophobic group and a polyvalent metal alkoxide without a hydrophobic group as raw materials. The alkoxysilane with the hydrophobic group is favorably an alkylalkoxysilane, a fluoroalkylalkoxysilane, an alkenylalkoxysilane or a fluoroalkenylalkoxysilane.
