Disclosed is a flexographic printing original plate which is a flexible water-developable printing plate and is still free from lines in the plate surface or plate surface defects due to laser. Specifically disclosed is a water-developable flexographic printing original plate which is a photosensitive printing original plate obtained by sequentially laminating at least a supporting body, a photosensitive resin layer, a protective layer, and a heat-sensitive mask layer. The water-developable flexographic printing original plate is characterized in that the protective layer contains (A) a polyvinyl alcohol, (B) a plasticizer and (C) a water-dispersible latex at the following ratios. (A) a polyvinyl alcohol: 25-80 parts by weight (B) a plasticizer: 15-60 parts by weight (C) a water-dispersible latex: 5-40 parts by weight
