<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter capable of achieving high efficiency of a power conversion section and a load, and ensuring normal operation of the load as required when a battery, a capacitor of a DC circuit or a switching element of the power conversion section has an abnormality. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter includes: a DC-DC conversion section for adjusting power of the battery having at least two battery units connected in series; a DC circuit having at least two smoothing capacitors connected in series between a positive pole side line and a negative pole side line guided from the DC-DC conversion section; the power conversion section connected to the DC circuit, converting DC power into AC power and supplying the converted power to a motor; a bidirectional switch element for connecting an intermediate potential of the DC circuit to an AC output point of the power conversion section; and a short-circuiting circuit for short-circuiting the intermediate potential of the DC circuit and the intermediate potential between the battery units of the battery. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
