PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method configured to suppress the temperature rise of an image holding body. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the image holding body; a charging means; a latent image forming means; a developing means for developing the latent image with a liquid developer containing toner and carrier to form a toner image; an intermediate transfer means for transferring the toner image from the image holding body to a transfer member; a transfer means; a fixing means; a heating part for heating at least a part of the transfer member; a compressor for producing compressed air; an air blow nozzle for spraying the compressed air to at least a part of the transfer member; wherein, regarding the transfer member, a part to be heated by the heating part, a part to which the compressed air is sprayed through the air blow nozzle, and an intermediate transfer part to which the toner image is transferred from the image holding body are disposed in the order in the advancing direction of the transfer member.
