PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce switching losses caused by reverse recovery of body diodes of MOSFETs used as switching elements, and to increase switching frequencies. SOLUTION: A power converter includes a bridge circuit 17, in which a series circuit of first and second MOSFETs 3, 4 is connected to that of first and second diodes 5, 6 in parallel, a third diode 9 and a smoothing capacitor 8. An AC voltage is inputted between a common connection point of the first and second MOSFETs 3, 4 and that of the first and second diodes 5, 6 via an inductor 7, thus outputting a voltage obtained by rectifying the AC voltage from the bridge circuit 17, and outputting the rectified voltage to a smoothing capacitor 3 via the third diode for smoothing by the smoothing capacitor 8.
