Provided is a miniaturized electric power conversion device which can be manufactured at low costs, and is equipped with a step-up function for converting an AC voltage into a first DC voltage, and a step-down function for converting the first DC voltage into a second DC voltage. The electric power conversion device is provided with: an AC to DC conversion unit having a rectifying means for converting the AC voltage supplied by an AC power source into a DC voltage; and a filter unit which includes at least one inductor and is inserted between the AC power source and the AC to DC conversion unit. The AC to DC conversion unit stores or releases the energy in the inductor of the filter unit by switching on or off a switching element that constitutes the rectifying means, thereby converting the AC voltage into a DC voltage.
