OIL BASE FOR COSMETICS AND COSMETICS CONTAINING THE SAME

Provided is an oil base for cosmetics containing an ester compound composed of a polyhydric alcohol and a fatty acid, wherein the ester compound is composed of dipentaerythritol and at least one fatty acid selected from the group consisting of fatty acids having 5 to 16 carbon atoms, and the molar ratio of dipentaerythritol residues to fatty acid residues having 5 to 16 carbon atoms in the ester compound is from 1.0:3.0 to 1.0:6.0.  The oil base for cosmetics provides a moist and moderate oily feeling, is free from unpleasant stickiness, is excellent in safety and adhesiveness to the skin, has an excellent effect of maintaining gloss after applied to the skin, and has high compatibility with an oil agent.  Further, when the oil base is contained in various cosmetics, an adequate emollient property or the like can also be imparted to the cosmetics.
